While using stop-motion editing, we were able to construct a three-part Vine video containing three components: Complication, Climax and Resolution. The inspiration behind the story we chose was utilizing our campus’s history and it’s haunting past. The complication starts with a girl in the library who seems to be haunted by a campus ghost. While using stop-motion, we were able to give the illusion of the books moving by themselves, as well as, someone appearing and disappearing behind the main character of the story. At first, we felt silly walking and moving in slow steps and freeze frames, but once you see the product on screen, it all comes together quite nicely. This scene took 7 tries since we were still figuring out how to make it look good and work out the kinks. Once, we finished the first scene, ideas for our next two sequences surfaced quickly.
The second part to this was the climax, which was actually really fun to do! By using one of the more dated styled bathrooms, we depicted the climax of the haunting as a girl being followed by a ghost. We also used light effects to give the ghost the ability to appear and disappear from behind the main character.
The third scene, our resolution, is when the girl finds out that it is actually her friend that’s been haunting her this entire time. The third scene only required one take and was the easiest of all three.
