RiP! A Remix Manifesto

“you cant argue your creativity when its based on other peoples stuff” That is what the copywriter woman said when the director, Brett asked her if she thinks copywriter holds people back. I disagree. People inspire others all of the time. I feel like when he was showing the demonstration of him making a remix he’s taking parts of the music and manipulating it to his advantage. It’s like writing a research paper and using outside sources. I don’t copy the source and call it my own. I use certain quotes and angles to manipulate it to fit my papers argument. In high school I had an art project to recreate Starry Starry Night by Vincent Van Gough, but I couldn’t use paint. I used blue sand for the night sky, I used muli colored rice for the swirls in the sky, I used foam shapes for the buildings, I used macaroni for the moon, and I used black feathers for the black flame like object. I thought it was super creative on my part, and I got to express my own creativity, by using Van Gough as a source. This is a greedy business who wants as much money as they can get there hands on. We are a generation who wants stuff now, and we want it for free. If we like you, we’ll support you.
